This is something I have seen in the park now about 5 - 6 times...
This particular helicopter is an air ambulance (although I didn't see them pick anyone up), but I've seen a red helicopter with "Virgin Media" all over it land in the park a bunch. Once, I saw a few people get out, pose in front while one of them took pictures, and then take off again. Maybe if you're friends with Sir Richard Branson you get free rides to the London park of your choice?
